From my interview:
“Triathlon is the boom sport in Ireland just now – we have so many well organised events, most of which get sold out. Races like Triathy, Hell of the West, Dublin City and The Lost Sheep half Ironman are events I’d recommend to everyone – especially foreign athletes as they are also great excuses to visit Ireland ! The work of the Athlone team has been a catalyst for attracting media attention and international recognition – and with an international event on our doorstep it gives focus to our national team”

On Athlone 2010:
“The atmosphere this year is going to be electric ! I would describe it as smaller but louder version of the Hamburg World Cup. The course is tight and technical and is built for spectators. Athlone itself is a small town and the triathlon simply takes over every year. I expect the swim to be very physical and the bike to be extremely fast with a lot of opportunity for break always – and then imagine a 10k race on the track where the crowd are standing 5 deep in lane 3 ! I promise it will be one of the most memorable and exciting races the ITU has ever staged. I get goose bumps even thinking about her it . . .
