BHAA Cross Country
November 30th, 2010 by Gavin
I fell within the first 400m. At about 1.5km as the course doubled back I caught a glimpse of a river crossing . . . ‘WTF’ I thought.
On Saturday morning as the snow fell I ran in the Business Houses Athletic League (BHAA) NRST/SMART Cross Country.
I was back in Dublin for a Triathlon Ireland high performance meeting and of course the Triathlon Ireland Awards evening. Over the past few weeks as part of my transitional phase of training I have been doing some cross country racing – some strength training, some competition and something to break up my initial swim bike run routines.
I will have to admitt that I struggle with the unique demands of cross country racing and the fact I am not race fit at this time of year makes it extra tough ….. but I really enjoy it.
BHAA run a winter cross country league in Ireland (as well as road races throughout the year) which is open to all runners of all abilities – great for getting yourself out of the door for some healthy competition. On Saturday morning I ran around a field in 2degree weather with a smile.
Smiles too later that evening with Irish Cycling Pro Nicholas Roche, Triathlon Ireland’s special guest speaker.
