Blenheim Palace – in a nut shell
June 5th, 2009 by Gavin

Birth place of Sir Winston Churchill did you know ? The only non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title “Palace” – Yes thats right non-episcopal.
I have done my research on the start list and on the house which was orignally built as a gift. Let me run you through the history of it all.
The Duchess Sarah was a bit cantankerous but could also be quite charming (you know the sort) but then supposdily there was some scheming on a machivellian scale and her and the Old Duke were not gifted the house in the end, with the Old Duke being exiled – something about the personal expenses row, a war against the French and Barvarians, a duck house, flipping houses, and watching porn in a travel lodge . . . . it’s tough to keep up with it all.
Eventually the Churchills moved in, got themselves into a bit of ‘barney rubble’ but at the end of the 19th Century were saved by marrying into an American family.
Some time later Winston was born.
Winston was saved again by Americans ??? Had some great quotes and liked a few drinks.
Then it was used to film scenes in Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and my favourite Greystoke: the legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes.
Finally it’s now used as a transition area for lots of nice bikes in the Uk’s second largest triathlon. The triathlon ritual of “peacocking” will also be staged there before the race. Gottalovekit.
My race in on Sunday morning at 9 something:
Follow other Legends of triathlonteam over the weekend
