Blueseventy Swim Skins

There’s my Blueseventy weapons . . . and Isabella on the end, always just hanging around
Here in Stellenbosch I have been using the Pointzero3, Pointzero3+ and my Helix in the last few months. The pool at 5.30am is sometimes not the warmest and as some of my training partners can confirm, when I get cold I get slow !
Or, the times become average, I shorten the rest periods to under 5 secs and I have to rev my arms over remind my brain to keep some blood in there and not divert it all to save my vital organs. The session becomes more of a straight swim, or, and in most cases a “counting down the lenghts until I can get out” session.
The first time I wore the Pointzero3+ I actually couldn’t believe they were ever allowed in swimming competitons - and some cheeky swimmers wore up to 3 of them !!! Will some world records ever be beaten ?
The Maties Squad have now moved indoors and are nearing a competitive period so this morning I had my first real Lactate session of 2010:
200 off 4mins / 4 x 150m off 4mins
“keep high in the water, keep high, keep high, hold on, hold on, hold on”
The lactate build up and dealing with it was a bit of a shock to the system. But as the wise man says Lactate is actually our friend.
EAT THE LACTATE
“In the new scientific understanding of lactate, arguably the most important role of lactate during exercise is not to delay fatigue caused by muscular acidosis or muscle cell depolarization but is rather to serve as a direct and indirect fuel for muscle contractions. That’s right: the substance that was once thought to be a worse-than-useless byproduct of anaerobic glycolysis turns out to be one of the most important energy sources for high-intensity muscle activity”
