In the build up to Triathlone 2009 I am giving and taking advice

Advice from various quarters :

“How are you sorted for Athlone ? I hope your not going to try and act the hero like you did last year. Race the race not the venue ! I had to say it, somethings have to be said ”

” You need to wash your bike ”

“You have no problem with the swim and drafting cycle but you need to focus on running. My advice, treadmill will help you alot, once a week. run outdoors morning and evening 6 times per week…treadmill session 400 at 22km/ph 200 at 17km/ph 10 times….. good luck Gav ”

“That cereal will make you crap like a monkey”

Giving Advice:

The Pack are now coming into the last third of the season. I was pleased with the results from Kilkee and from there we have attempted to recover well but at the same time keep on top of our aerobic endurance. Kilkee is always a difficult race to recover from with the sea swim, slightly long and windy bike and then the very hilly run.

Sometimes  it is the athlete who has to make the call on sessions -and post Kilkee was one of those situations.

We therefore had some ‘optional’ sessions programmed. The athlete then took ownership and depending on he felt made the training decision.

Often our success depends on how well we have recovered from our last effort and not how much training we can squeeze in bewteen races.

All roads to the heart of Ireland.

All roads Athlone
