Days Off

patiently she waits
‘Rosey the trainer’ sits waiting for me to get back to 100 % health. I was awoken on Tuesday morning by a mouthful of French cuisine reversing itself out of my stomach . . . not the nicest way to start the day.
With a raging headache and a desperate need for fluid I attempted to meet and ride with Dan at 7.30am - I managed the ‘meet’ but had to bail after 15mins. I hadn’t felt that bad since Fraser and I had hit Stellenbosch last year. I’m not really sure of the cause but there has been a ‘bug’ going around here lately - my first forced day off training in over a year.

I am Feeling better today but the rule is “once you think your ok then take another day“.
It is funny how your mind works when you are having a day off. It is also funny how ice cream is the only food that can be tolerated in any situation.
I woke this morning after my 24hr slumber feeling like I haven’t trained now for a very long time. Suddenly I have become unfit, heavy and slow. All the ice cream has vanished.
In moments of despair Mr Voice taps me on the shoulder and ‘has a word’.
“Forget the weekly totals, take a breath for 24hrs, have another scoop”
thanks Voicey.
