gavIN USA - Day 1
June 18th, 2009 by Gavin

Day 1
It would have been easier for me to get into Heaven past St Peter than onto the Continental flight at Edinburgh Airport. There was a lot of questions and peeping at me from around a curtain (!?).
When asked for the 3rd time in the space of 40mins
“Has anyone given you anything since you entered the airport?”
I replied
“the muffin man over there in Costa Cafe gave me this Blueberry treat”.
It didn’t go down too well. I was able to walk on however and repeated in a low voice
“the Muffin man, the muffin man . . . .”
I found it funny and chuckled to myself all the way down the gang way, eventhough at the same time I knew I was a pratt.
Saw The Statue of Liberty and then The White House within the space of 3 hours.
Attempted to read USA Today and understand Baseball. Struggled.
Asked on the flight for some fruit or something healthy instead of the chicken and melted cheese sandwich - was brought a sachet of tomato ketchup and a bag of crisps - the crisps were “lite” and the sachet’s contents was made from real ‘te mate oes’ ?
Ate the chicken and melted cheese sandwich.
Arrived at the race hotel thinking I was booked in - I was not - after taking the huff I was allowed a room at a ridiculous rate.
Tried to sleep.
Can’t.
Tired and grumpy but full of joy
