gavIN USA - Day 2

Day 2:

It was a short run in terms of distance but it ended up taking 40mins - on every corner there was something that I had to slow down to look at. The White House, the Reflecting Pool (you know the one where Jenny runs through to get to Forrest Gump as he makes his speech at the anti Vietnam protest), etc etc I have only ever seen these buildings in movies  but each one seems familiar.

The Russian’s have not been able to make the start line because of Visa trouble

To be honest I haven’t met anyone yet who is too disappointed by that . . . .  especially as it looks like being a non wetsuit swim.

Still tryin to figure out Baseball - still struggling - although some dude called Sammy Sosa seems to be in the shit. If over 100 soccer players tested positive in any one season there would be a lot more trouble made about it.

Speaking of Baseball/ Softball - there is something hot about a chick who can throw and catch a ball - there will be a conference later on to decide if:

 “shes hot if she can throw and catch a ball”

will be added to

“if she’s hot at 8km of the run, you know she is hot”

on the she’s hot IF: hotlist.

It annoy’s me that the American’s price something and then add on tax at the till. It annoy’s them that I don’t get it.

I still have not worked out “tipping” - that annoy’s them even more !!! We do not really have that rule in Ireland and I do not really understand it yet - it is sort of like charity and as you may know I am not a charity fan !

I had teachers who taught me French, Biology, Computers, Maths

(although I knew at the time I would never use pythagoras theorem and so did not feel bad about disrupting the class and getting thrown out on a daily basis)

ein bisschen Deutsch etc etc  and moulded me as a young man - they were paid a fixed salary and I never even contemplated giving them my spare sweetie change at the end of the day - so why do you Mr Lift Operator expect me to give you my sweetie change for pushing the button ???? It just doesnt make sense to me. . .  do you understand my rational ?

 The race hotel is pretty swish but its no ‘Sheraton’ in Athlone, ‘Prince of Wales’ or ‘Athlone Springs’ for that matter.

I swam an easy 3k in the sun - 400, 300, 200, 100, 5×100@ 1.20, 500 easy, 10×50 surge @50, 500 easy

Rode 60mins with Aileen (CV was there too on official BTF business), dodged the traffic and learnt that you can drive through a red light when making a right hand turn - “HEY I’m trying to take a photo here !”

 Seriously, have you ever had to use pythagoras theorum since that day in maths class ?
