Day 3:

Look who I found in the hotel lobby - Dr Darren Smith - former Scottish National Coach and the name behind the famous Dazza 90/90 workout - 90 seconds on 90 seconds off, 60 on 60 off, 45/45, 30/30, 15/15  (some dude called Steve Monegetthi once tried to claim it was his sessions but we all know the truth)

It was great to catch up with Darren who is now coaching a professional group who are competing and winning on the internaitonal circuit. At the ‘opening ceremony’ (pasta party) I introduced him to CV (current scottish commander) and we exchanged stories on run routes in the Shire and argued over who has the moutain bike record for heartbreak hill.

Baseball - I have given up. Nas Car racing is my latest puzzle ?

I had another aerobic day with another ride and run around the town - Mr Obama was leaving his house during my ride at lunch - supposidly Michelle had run out of milk - I stopped to check it out but Mr Voice was not too pleased that it interupted my spin.

On Saturday ill pick it up with some short sharp efforts - it feels like I haven’t trained for a long time and all I do is waste time in between eating !

Coach Jones is here looking after our small team and it is not long now until kick off - I am number 54 of only 56 starters - a ranking which reflects my lack of racing and current position on the hierarchy . . . . . the only way is up !

The swim will be non wetsuit and the bike is going to be super fast - with the run being like an over speed treadmill session with a view of Capitol hill - “just hold on, just hold on !”

You can watch live coverage on triathlon.org and follow updates on twitter from the ITU and Tri247 …… Ill get back to you after the dance

Good one Gav. Watched the event on TV- you played the bike pack quite well. Hanging round the back early on and moving forward later. Your green kit stands out nicely. Watch those US Immigration officials- people I know have been sent straight back home with a lesser chirp. Or maybe it was a passport thing… anyway, great blogging.
