Home in Enniskillen
March 25th, 2009 by Gavin

It was a pleasant enough flight home yesterday from Cape Town – and although I was met in Belfast with only my 2nd glimpse of rain of 2009 I felt rested and happy to be home. I had prepared my own food for the flight which was a help and a little pill knocked me out so I got about 6hrs sleep – I still went into my obsessive complusive mode in the airport though, refusing to touch any doors, taps etc with my bare hands ….. its my rule, dont judge me for it !
I got into Belfast, had lunch with my sister Marie-Claire, met irish triathlete Aileen Morrison briefly and headed to Enniskillen … Ill be here for the next couple of weeks with some trips to Dublin and Belfast – I have outlined this plan to the Sports Council too and have given my whereabouts for April, May, June and July but seemingly they still are not happy as they wanted this information at the start of March - I havent missed any tests nor did they not know at any time where Id be but still I have been striked ! – thats another post for another day ……
Its feels like I haven’t done much training in a while but Mr Voice reminds me I have had 10 consistant weeks and just because I had only 1 session on Sunday and Monday and a travel on Tuesday, doesnt mean I have lost fitness …. in fact I have probably gained fitness as my body has had the chance to rest and catch up with me …
Apart from my Mum complaining that Id lost weight (!) as else is well. Ill have a few more easier days this week – I will be in Dublin on Friday to see a man about a dog; ill catch up with my coaching group on Saturday and there may be a cycle race on Sunday ….
My time here in Enniskillen started by joining in with the Enniskillen Lakelander Swimming Club this morning – 4k in total, with too much breaststoke for my liking ! The club use ‘cups’ in training as a form of resistance – something that was new to me and maybe something ill look to add to my swim bag.
Ill add some more pages (coaching, sponsors etc) in a few days but in the mean time you can listen to some music via the ‘blipFm’ button, join me on Flickr and maybe too on facebook …
