Monday Morning Hero - Jens Voigt
July 26th, 2010 by Gavin
Monday morning hero Jens Voigt - forget about that other boy who retired Again - Jens is the man. I sat and watched lots of the Tour last week and everytime I saw him I would think “he would simply ride me off his wheel”. The sort of guy whos rear cassette is 11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11- and a 12 for security.
I enjoyed some of his blogs too on Bicycling.com
My favourite one came after this epic day

“Needless to say, I had plenty of time to come up with a fitting book of the day. It’s from the Disk World series by Terry Pratchett. In it, the protagonist is Conan the Barbarian, who is a 70-year-old who has just survived everything. At one point he, and his other old warrior friends capture this village, but then they find that they are surrounded by an army of tens of thousands, and his only reaction is, “Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!” And that’s the way I was today when I was lying on the ground. I just thought, “Oh no, I’m going to Paris this year, I’m going to Paris. There’s just no way you are going to get me out of this race for the second year in a row!”
I drew some motivation in my current predicament with
“That gave me some time to think about my books and today’s book is “The Nation” by Terry Pratchett. In it, this guy lives on a little island nation. He gets sent out to sea, but when he comes back a Tsunami had destroyed his island. As a result he had to rebuild the island and the nation. But he was always struggling against adversity and sometimes the only way he managed to succeed was by sheer willpower”.
One more time Jens . . what do you say to your legs ?
