“Theres lots of meat in there for your iron and theres some frozen peas in-case you hurt yourself” ….. thanks mum
Mary didnt forget about me before she and Mr Noble jetted off to South America. Enough mince and chicken to feed 100 Nobles instead of just 1 and there ‘was’ some apple crumble in there too. Red meat is still the best source of iron in my diet and im trying to get at least 3 portions per week. Whilst in South Africa I struggled a little bit with my iron levels once again – even though I am supplementing my diet with iron my body doesnt seem to want to absorb it – at one stage my iron level was only 10 (it should be 50+). A few doctors appointments later and a few pricks from the nurse and I was back on the road …
I wouldnt say my diet has radically changed this year but I am definately more conscious of it – if I am standing in my cycling shorts I am allowed to eat whatever I want but aside from during chamois time theres some food you need and theres some you dont ! Theres a time for food and theres a wrong time for food etc. I have added a lot more protein to my daily regime and havent eaten any jelly sweets since Christmas day – not eating sweets may seem silly but I had a small addiction to those empty calories ! And as ive said before …. its all about the green tea.
The more training I do here in Enniskillen the more I am thinking that its Irelands best training destination …. a good pool and gym, track, hilly riding, resurfaced roads, the ASDA cereal isle that takes 45mins to get through and then yesterday I ran in Castle Archdale – an 18k loop around the grounds and forest – my new favourite run loop …

Castle Archdale, music, gps and shell suit …. all thats left is to do the loop
