Nokia Windsor Triathlon 2010
June 19th, 2010 by Gavin
You know it is race season when the blogging starts to become less frequent. From Spain to Stirling to London to Switzerland in a week. Last Saturday I was in London watching the second day of the World Cup for the Nokia Windsor Triathlon.
It was my first time to Windsor – and wow what a beautiful town – I’d say that the Waitrose supermarket in the center had one of the best beauty ratios I had ever seen - if I were to go back in there id probably make an effort to dress up – my shiney Mizuno running shorts and t-shirt with custom hollywood sweat patch drew some dirty looks from a lot of mums.
I registered that afternoon and did an interview with Iwan Thomas for Channel 4 - the first time I had met the former 400m European Champion – remember the 1998 European Athletics Champs ? I do, although admitedly not for Iwan but for Sonia O’Sullivans 5k 10k double. “Go on ye girl ye” the men in the pub in Rosses Point roared.
So to the race.
I often read other peoples race reports and switch off so ill keep it brief
Swimming, Halksworth like to keep hitting me on the head, cycling, Jenks thinks we are all pussy(s)cats, running, stitch, tough day, after tri247 saying I was favourite to win I bottled it but promised my sister I’d give her the new Nokia phone, 3rd . . . a podium which meant Iwan came back and chatted me.
Now I find myself in the Swiss mountains where it is still winter and rains a lot. So far it has been a tough weeks training. Did I mention the moutains and the rain ?
