Reading and Eating
September 7th, 2009 by Gavin

I’m back in Stirling after some time at home in Enniskillen and once again someone has stolen all the spoons – plus it took me over an hour to find my favourite bowl.
It was good to be home in Enniskillen and to chill out for a while. Did you hear the story about one of my first appearances in Church ? Mum started to reminisce on Saturday night. Bold as brass I ran up the isle proclaiming to a packed audience ”If this is the house of God, show your face, show your face Jesus” . . . my older brother whispering in my mums ear “lets just pretend he isn’t with us”.
I have embarked upon a ‘see food diet’ (I see something and I eat it) and have started to think about my plans for the winter.
I have once again become a procrastinating gardener and have opened some old books and stared to read again about Vdot tables, mitochondrial biogenesis workouts, the central governor, Roger Bannister couldnt touch his toes but he could break 4mins for the mile and the unrecommended Frank Horwill old school science of – I once ran 240km in a week for the craic and “I once went 5 days without eating to see what would happen” etc etc etc
As triathletes it is often difficult to take a piece of reading from one of the three sports and logically apply it to triathlon – we simply cannot train 100% like swimmers, cyclists or runners.
For the time being I’ll keep planning to make a plan, researching and eating ice cream. When I work it all out, ill let you know
