supposidly it's caused a few accidents already

I enjoyed the security check in Edinburgh airport this morning and it was nothing to do with getting ‘felt up’

I was in the queue behind 2 Scots who were on their way to Malaga. When asked if they had any liquids or toiletries they both replied Yes. One of them pulls out a 2 litre bottle of Lucozade which he commented was to be used as ‘a mixer’ and the other pulled out a 6 pack of Tennants !!! Supposidly you can’t get Tennents Lager in Spain !?

There was a look of amazment on everyone around as Security tried to take the items off them and explain the new rules since 9/11 !!

The boys got further annoyed when their bags were searched and they had some Lynx deoderant confiscated.

“Thats not a liquid it’s a gas ” one proclaimed ! “fu%kin Bin Laden” said the other.

BRILLIANT ! I THOUGHT.

I sat and avoided the North American stampede to get on the flight. I boarded the plane with only ‘Martha’ behind me on the steps. By chance Martha was also sitting beside me. As the plane took off she says

“Good bye Scotland, hello Mr Noble”

Slightly bemused I looked at her

“I heard the stewardess call you it” she said with a smile.

As I sat with my 100% fat free water and depressing bird seeds, Martha pulls out a bottle of Dr Pepper and what could only be described as 2 muffins merged into 1. Jealous.

She was a large lady from Phoenix and on her way to IREland for the first time. I’d describe her as jolly and excited. She was wearing a ‘vanny pack’ and the label was still on her ‘Scotland cap’ which sat on her head.

Sometimes I hate plane chat but it was hard not to like Martha. We chatted about her mood ring, her grand children and her first time outside North America. Her hand would tap my leg as she got into her stories and she kept offering me boiled sweets . . . . it was the most action I’ve got since that bottle of mint shower gel ran out last week (tinglesALLover).

She had seen on CNN that the ‘War’ had started in Northern Ireland again so she wasn’t going to go north. I chuckled a bit and told her it wasn’t really that bad – “Im sure someone gets shot or shot at in New York (or any major city for that matter) everyday but you don’t see that on CNN”. Maybe if they would report it less we would be better off ?

“Hello IRE land” she proclaimed as we touched down

 . . . . . . . .  So anyway, here I am in Athlone. It almost feels like home.

Gav, I have told Ernie, Paul and the lads that you scored!!! Please send photos of Martha …. Paul wants to make sure you are suited, if you catch my drift!!!! Good luck this weekend and try not to let your mind wander to Martha.
