TriFitness – 3 Friends, 10 weeks, 1 Goal

Team time trials, gaining fitness, interactive online league tables, heats, finals, raising money for a great cause . . . and to think going to the gym can be boring !??

(You can also win a pair of Katie Taylors boxing gloves . . . but that isn’t really the point)

Last week I joined The Cappagh Hospital Foundation along with Derval O’Rourke (Irish 100m hurdler) and Graham Gartland (Shamrock Rovers FC)  to launch Tri-fitness. Trifitness is a team event in which teams of three will compete in a series of interactive distance time trials of 10 minutes each on treadmill, rowing and cycling apparatus in order to qualify for the semi-final and finals, which will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012, in DCU Sport.

Check out the website for all the details. You should even just go and check it out to see Bryan Keanes photo – he is looking ‘suspicious’ I think (let me know your thoughts on that @gavontwitt). Bryan joins a host of other experts that will advise your preparations once you and 3 friends have signed up to the challenge.

‘There is a strong emphasis on designated website interactivity, with a Live Online League Table and online training tips and advice from experts across nutrition, training, fitness and physiotherapy. Over the 10 week period, each Trifitness team will submit their five distance trial times to qualify for the semi-finals and finals. Each team’s distance is recorded and registered on the Trifitness website – with all proceeds go to the Cappagh Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital’.
