Fermanagh will be hosting a new Triathlon event !!

“The Waterways Ireland Lakeland Triathlon on Sunday June 27th^thstarting on beautiful Lough Erne. Combining swimming, cycling and running Triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports on the island and Fermanagh is home to one of Ireland’s finest tri-athletes, Gavin Noble “

Taking place at Lakeland Lodges, Boa Island, the Waterways Ireland Lakeland Triathlon will uniquely feature a open water swim for both sections, as well as an individual adult race and an adult relay race. All Tri-athletes must pre-register.

The Youth race, for 14-16 year olds, starts at 10am with a 200m open water swim in Lough Erne, a 3.8km off-road cycle and a 1.8km off-road run. The Senior event begins at 1pm with a 750m swim in Lough Erne, a 20km return cycle from Lakeland Lodges towards Belleek and a 5km off-road run.

Waterways Ireland Director of Marketing and Communications, Martin Dennany, stated “The Inaugural Waterways Ireland Lakeland Triathlon is an ideal opportunity to engage both Fermanagh residents and visitors in waterway activity, and ensure they see the very best Fermanagh has to offer as they travel through the county on foot or by bike. Waterways Ireland welcomes the increase in waterway activity and economic benefits this event brings to the area.”

The Fermanagh race is part of a new triathlon series with other races in Antrim, Armagh and Down.

Each of the triathlons cover different distances to suit all abilities from the first-timer to the experienced triathlete. From the 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run in the Crooked Lake triathlon to the ultimate test of fitness of 3.8k swim, 180k bike and 21k run for the Ireman competition.
